As a result, some parts are cast to approximate the shape of parts, which often requires complex and expensive clamps.


Titanium 6al-4V ELI is a standard product for the manufacture of hip joints, bone screws, knees, plate bones or organs, dentures and surgical devices. However, cobalt-chromium alloys are increasingly being used because of their strength, finer granularity and cleaner properties than titanium. Titanium alloys require only slightly more cutting force than steel, but their metallurgical properties make them more difficult to work than moderately hard steels. Titanium has a titanium workhardenability, a property that eliminates the consolidation of metal in front of the cutting tool (crimping). This helps to increase the shear Angle during machining, thus creating a thin chip that touches the surface of the cutting tool in a suitably small area. Because of this work hardening, the feed should not stop during the moving touch of the tool and the workpiece. Such a large supporting force in processing, combined with the friction caused by chip in the touch area, resulting in the tool part of the heat greatly added. The heat that occurs when cutting titanium does not dissipate quickly because it is a poor conductor. Therefore, most of the heat will be concentrated on the cutting edge and tool surface. Large load bearing and heat, near the cutting edge of the crescent depression, resulting in rapid tool damage. To make matters worse, titanium alloys at the operating temperature of the tool have a strong tendency to form alloys or revive chemical changes with the product in the tool, and there is also a tendency for chips to bond to the cutting edge of the tool, resulting in surface damage. These difficulties are doubled when the tool starts to break, so the tool used to process titanium and its alloys should be carefully supervised to ensure that the blade is sharp and replaced before being blunted. The experience with titanium and titanium alloys is that if you see any change in the process, you should change the tool immediately, because change means the tool is going to be blunt. Another reason to insist on sharp cutting tools is that titanium can cause fire when cutting with broken or damaged tools. When burned, the metal is oxygenated, so the fire spontaneously ignites. Therefore, many titanium processing workshops do not report a fire, they are equipped with a rescue system on the machine tool.


Titanium has a reasonably low modulus of elasticity, is more elastic than steel, and therefore tends to defy the cutting tool when machined unless robust cutting is required or used as proper support. Slender parts tend to deflect under tool pressure, resulting in tool chatter, tool friction and work problems. Through processing experience, the rigidity of the whole system of cutting tools is very important, to use sharp, accurate shape of the tool.
